for getting externships, u must open the FREIDA directory, selsct the branch and areas and then write to the prog co ordinator... ususally it has been seen that u get better results by calling them than by e mails... it is even better if u can go and meet them...there are lists of img freidnlyhospitals, but the best bet is to apply to areas on the east coast new york and alike..
